17 May 2024 – Presse release Arthur Rogeon
GB3 Championship, round 2, Silverstone, 26 – 28 April 2024
After leading the previous race until the final lap, Arthur Rogeon is asking himself how he ended up in the second half of the field at Silverstone. Beyond the disappointing result in the second round of the GB3 Championship, the important thing today is to understand what happened during this gloomy weekend on the most famous of British circuits.
To sum up in two lines: the young Frenchman qualified with the 19th time and finished in 16th and 18th place in the two races. The third was canceled due to bad weather.
Arthur describes his feelings to us: “I had no speed from the first practice sessions to the end of race 2. In qualifying, I conceded 2.6s which was rather strange knowing that I’ve always been at ease on wet tracks. I unintentionally jumped the start of race 1 because the clutch broke and I couldn’t stop the car from launching itself. Subsequently, I had a fairly good race despite more tyre degradation than my rivals and I finished 11th before being penalised. In race 2, performance was slow in coming, but I was able to pull off a good overtake on the outside in the Becketts – Maggots – Chapel sequence of corners. Overall, I had no grip, I couldn’t mix it with my rivals.”
This is obviously not what was expected when tackling his second season in this championship. Arthur continues: “We’re going to have a general debrief of the meeting with the team who will organise an additional test on the same Silverstone circuit in order to get a clear picture of what happened.”
It will certainly be good preparation for the next meeting that the GB3 Championship has arranged with the Spa-Francorchamps circuit from 30th May to 2nd June.
